Fr. Ernest’s 60th Anniversary of Ordination
Our dear and beloved Fr. Ernest Cockrell was ordained a priest on January 9, 1965, and he has ministered to thousands of people since then in their times of sorrow and joy. We will gather to celebrate his ministry and his great spirit on Saturday & Sunday, January 11 & 12, as he preaches and celebrates at our weekend services. A festive reception is planned for Sunday after the 10:00 am service (and probably also Saturday), and we hope that Fr. Ernest will regale us with tales from his many years of being a priest. Please do come and celebrate this milestone in the life of a jolly good fellow and friend!
In thanksgiving for his 60 years of ministry to so many, some parishioners are collecting donations for a “gift purse” for Fr. Ernest. If you would like to contribute, checks should be made out directly to “Ernest Cockrell” and given to Grady Jeter by Sunday morning, January 12. Cash is also welcome. We will collect all gifts and present an envelope to Fr. Ernest at our reception following the 10:00 am service January 12. Thank you so much!
