The Blessing of the Animals

St. Luke’s will host its annual Blessing of the Animals after our weekend services Saturday and Sunday, October 3 & 4. The blessings take place in the courtyard — all pets and their people are welcome to attend! Snacks for pets and humans alike will be provided.

After the blessing, all are invited to the parish hall for a presentation by Canine Companions, a wonderful organization to which a few of our members belong. We will hear of their good work from various perspectives: puppy raisers, volunteers, and a service dog’s human. This weekend is a fundraiser for Canine Companions, so please come ready to give generously! The group also seeks people who can volunteer as puppy raisers, so come with an open mind and heart and let yourself be led as the Spirit moves you.

Our Blessing of the Animals fundraiser is St. Luke’s October Outreach Event, and we give thanks for those on that committee who are helping make this wonderful weekend possible.

Canine Companions is a national organization that provides highly trained service dogs to people with disabilities, at no charge to the recipient. They are able to do this for two reasons: volunteers and donations. You will get to meet a young woman and her service dog; she will tell you what her service dogs have meant to her. You will also get to meet puppies in training, therapy dogs, and breeders, and learn what you can do to help support this worthy organization.
